Because it is light weight, extremely strong, noncombustible, and quick to install, it has dominated the market for interior, non-load-bearing partition walls in commercial construction. CFS is rapidly becoming the material of choice for dormitories, assisted living facilities, hotels, schools, mid-rise and multi-housing buildings due to technological developments. Its strength and ductility make it ideal for construction in our region which is subject to high winds and tornadoes.
CFS has pre-punched holes which are designed to accommodate rapid mechanical, plumbing, and electrical installation, drastically reducing installation times and ultimately saving money in labor costs. It doesn’t shrink, split, twist, bow, swell or absorb moisture, making it mold and mildew resistant. It resists warping, termites, and fire leaving you with a lasting and straight wall for the life of the structure. CFS is 100% recyclable, an exceptionally sustainable building material, and its uniform manufacturing translates into less waste and scrap to haul off.
Basic metal framing consists of two shapes of CFS; U-track and C-studs. U-track is fastened to the ceiling and floor and C-studs are erected within the track. Able to be installed over all substrates including concrete, CFS is able to be constructed quickly. Different gauges or thicknesses of steel are used for different areas as specified by the architect and building codes. Typically, 18-16 gauge is used for load bearing or outside structural walls, and 25-20 gauge for inside, non-structural walls.
Pan head fasteners are most commonly used to fix the track and stud together at the ends of the walls and a self-tapping fastener are used to affix drywall to the studs. Unlike timber, metal studs are not cut tight but are able to slide along the track. The drywall boards do all the setting out and can be adjusted for precise wall construction.
Though more expensive than timber framing initially, steel offers many benefits. The cost savings for metal framing are not immediate but come in the subsequent construction of the building; less labor hours for framers, plumbers, and electricians, superior structural strength for the life of building, longer lasting, and can even have lower insurance costs. Though not impervious to rust, CFS can also be galvanized to offer rust protection if that is a concern.

They are highly cleanable and stain resistant, more so than any other wall covering available today, they can even be hosed down or power washed. They can withstand harsh chemicals and are corrosion resistant. They can also be mounted with plywood on the back to add rigidity to the walls.

Depending on the type of Panel, FRP can be installed directly over metal or wood studs, concrete block, over drywall and many other solid surfaces. Beginning with Panel acclimation and inspection, our team of experienced installers ensures all surfaces to be covered are straight, plumb, and have correct stud spacing. Any irregularities are corrected to ensure correct installation.
After leveling, sanding, and cleaning the wall’s surface, the Panels are then installed using adhesive and/or non-corroding mechanical fasteners depending on the application. The Panel is smoothed down to fully bond the Panel to the wall’s surface and remove air pockets as voids can cause the FRP to release from the wall. Room for Panel expansion is ensured, and color matched moldings finish the look.

SUSPENDED CEILING INSTALLATION
Suspended Ceilings, also known as Acoustical or Drop Ceilings, are installed just below the main ceiling structure in a room. They are not a permanent structural foundation but rather a covering for the more solid framework above. They’re comprised of lightweight acoustical ceiling tiles (ACT) placed within a suspended metal grid hung from the original, structural, ceiling by wires. Commonly installed in commercial spaces such as offices, museums, schools, and hospitals for its ease of access to plumbing, wiring, lighting, and duct work and for soundproofing considerations.
ACT provide excellent sound dampening in two different ways: either by absorbing sound waves, preventing sounds from bouncing around the space (the Noise Reduction Coefficient rating), or by blocking sound from traveling to an adjacent room (the Ceiling Attenuation Class rating). High performance ceiling panels are able to absorb up to 70% of sound that strikes their surface.
One of the largest benefits to suspended ceilings is if any maintenance issues arise, merely remove a tile for immediate ceiling access. If a tile is damaged, simply remove it and replace it. Renovation costs, time, and mess are brought to a minimum with suspended ceilings unlike a hard lid standard drywall ceiling. With only 6’’ of clearance required, suspended ceilings leave you with plenty of headroom. Another benefit is lower utility costs with smaller areas to heat and cool. This savings can be quite drastic when lowering a high ceiling considerably.
